PROJECT DESCRIPTION
This courtyard garden was part of a densely populated new development and our client required screening from the neighbouring properties which were situated close to their rear boundary.
Our client, who maintains a demanding professional schedule requiring frequent absences from home, tasked us to create a contemporary and low-maintenance outdoor space that would provide enhanced privacy and serve as a versatile space for entertaining guests or personal relaxation.
To meet these requirements, we designed a structural, low-maintenance garden that could cope with being left for sometimes, weeks at a time without being cared for, but that would provide the sophistication our client desired for when she was at home.
A raised paved platform accommodates the sculptural concrete seat our client had asked us to include, while a gravel garden softens the abundance of hard landscaping. Additionally, an integrated bench provides an extra seating option for visitors when required. The strategic placement of pleached trees effectively screens the neighbouring properties, delivering the desired privacy to our client.
Throughout the garden, a cool colour scheme is maintained, incorporating hues of brown, silver, and orange in both the selected materials and the chosen plantings. This thoughtful approach ensures a harmonious visual appeal.
