WOODLANDS
SHENFIELD, ESSEX
PROJECT DESCRIPTION
One of the reasons our client had fallen in love with their house when they purchased it, was that from the rear of the property, you could easily be fooled into thinking the house sat in the middle of an ancient woodland, such was the abundance of mature native trees and the feeling of privacy they provided.
Our brief was to incorporate the external vistas beyond the garden boundaries into the design while creating a secure and inviting family-oriented space. Our client expressed a strong desire for lush vegetation and prioritised the inclusion of plants in the overall plan.
To fulfil these requirements, we conceived a design that retained the expansive lawn while flanking it with tiered mature Beech, and Ligustrum hedges, trimmed to a lower height to maintain the feeling of enclosure.
Strategically placed large Beech columns act as focal points at the rear of the garden, effectively disguising the functional area of the garden that house a shed and storage facilities for play equipment.
Generously sized borders were incorporated throughout the garden, allowing our clients to indulge in their passion for gardening.
A spacious terrace was positioned directly adjacent to the house, providing seamless access from the kitchen for dining purposes and offering an inviting lounge area for relaxing evenings.
